Challenge

Our client was evaluating their IT organization and functions to target areas to be considered for process improvement and cost reduction. The evaluation included a review of potential outsourcing areas. Decision was made to perform a detailed review of desktop lifecycle services. Desktop services included the procurement through disposition lifecycle for approximately 150,000 desktop devices in a distributed environment.

Omni Solution

  • Worked with IT management in determining scope for the project and development of an aggressive project plan (WBS structure).
  • Conducted a detailed baselining effort of all operational functions within desktop services addressing procurement, installations, core image development, call center operations, field support and disposal. The evaluation reviewed the function on both an operational process perspective and a financial modeling level.
  • Assisted the client in establishing a tailored methodology for the outsourcing process.
  • Managed the RFI and RFP process with the Suppliers through development of the detailed documentation and review and analysis of the Supplier responses. Developed management presentations to substantiate and support the decision.
  • Managed all outsourcing activities for the project team, coordinated Supplier discussion and developed a change management process for the company.

Results

  • Provided management with the operational and financial modeling information required to drive decisions surrounding desktop services.
  • Met the aggressive timetable for development of the deliverables and management of the selection and negotiations process.
  • Developed for the client the negotiations strategy and process for contract execution.
